Science and Engineering Fair

7 Feb

Long time, no post. I’ve been really busy in lab trying to do the research that will hopefully get me a PhD one day. But the next few months are going to be pretty exciting for science themed events and all work and no science fairs makes Liz a dull girl…..

Last year Nick inspired the youth through the medium of T-shirt captions.

National Science and Engineering Week will be taking place between March 9-18 and there’s going to be loads of cool stuff for everyone to get involved with. One of the events I’m really looking forward to is the Science and Engineering Fair taking place here at the University of Manchester. The FREE event is for schools and is aimed at year 7-9 pupils.

The day has three main parts:

  1.  A hands on science fair
  2. An interactive workshop
  3. A lecture delivered by an expert member of staff

Last year I did a stand at the fair and I can vouch for the fact this fair is ace. There’s loads of sciencey stuff for the students (and teachers!) to see and get involved with. I do believe the take away science stand from the Science Spectacular will be there too, so muchos sugar for all!

This year I’ll be delivering a workshop with my main man Nick Johnson (Follow him on twitter @Nick_A_Johnson), which we’re working on at the moment. I’ll update soon with more details on that.

The fair will be between the 13th and 15th, for more details NSEW_2012.
